pushing my camera

I played around this evening with pushing my camera in very low light, to get a feel for what my limits are without use of a tripod or flash. I made this photo of my dog:

[640x426] [3456x2298]
That's 1/4 second exposure at f/1.4 at ISO 1600, pushed two full stops and then corrected in iPhoto.

That's pretty sweet, dude.

Did you actually manage to hand-hold for 1/4s?

Also, how'd you do your grayscale conversion? Just a desaturate, or playing with color channels?

What gear you got now? Still the Rebel? (I'd look at your EXIF tags, but I'm lazy. :P)

Thanks :)

Yes, laying with my elbows on the ground for stability.

For this one I just used the black-and-white button in iPhoto.

I've just upgraded to a Rebel XT, hence the low number in the image filename.
